009 <br /> 5 <br /> A. Meters will be read and bills rendered in accordance with the poli- <br /> cies established by the County and as may be contracted with the <br /> Orange Alamance Water Authority. The County reserves the right to <br /> vary the dates or length of period covered, temporarily or <br /> permanently if necessary or desirable. <br /> B. Bills for sewer service will be figured in accordance with the <br /> County's published rate schedule then in effect and will be based on <br /> the amount of water consumed for the period covered by the meter <br /> readings. (See Article V.C. for those customers not on metered water <br /> usage.) <br /> C. Charge for service commences when tap meter is installed and connec- <br /> tion made, whether used or not. Sixty (60) days may be allowed for <br /> connection upon initial installation of the sewer system, unless a <br /> hardship condition exists and an exception time period is agreed to <br /> between the customer and County. <br /> D. Readings from different meters will not be combined for billing, <br /> irrespective of the fact that said meters may be for the same or <br /> different premises, or for the same or different customers, or for <br /> the same or different services. <br /> E. Bills are due when rendered and become delinquent 20 days after the <br /> meter reading whereupon water service may be discontinued. <br /> F. Failure to receive bills or notices shall not prevent such bills from <br /> becoming delinquent or relieve the customer from payment where the <br /> bill has been mailed to the last address given to the billing office <br /> by the customer. <br /> G. Unpaid bills will become liens on the property as provided for in the <br /> Sewer Easement/Agreement. <br /> XII, SUSPENSION (P SERVICE <br /> A. When services are discontinued and all bills paid, the deposit will <br /> be refunded. <br /> B. The deposit will be applied by the County toward settlement of the <br /> account. Any balance will be refunded to the customer unless the <br /> amount is less than $1; but if the deposit is not sufficient to cover <br /> the bill, the County may proceed to collect the balance in the manner <br /> provided in the Sewer Use and Easement Agreement, <br /> C. The County, in addition to prosecution by law, may permanently refuse <br /> service to any customer who tampers with a meter or tap. <br /> XIII. COMPLAINTS - ADJUSTMENTS_ <br /> A. If the customer believes his bill to be in error, he shall present <br /> his claim, in person, before the bill becomes delinquent. <br /> Such claim if made after the bill has become delinquent shall not be <br /> effective in preventing discontinuance of service as heretofore pro- <br /> vided. The customer may pay such bill under protest and said payment <br /> shall not prejudice his claim. <br /> B. Any requests for special meter readings or tests shall be governed by <br /> the rules and regulations of the Orange Alamance Water Authority. <br />
