Use Plan Amendment Applications (Chandler Concrete) <br /> tn an April 26 memo from. Gene Bell to Jerry Robinson, the mention is <br /> made that. Chandler Concrete Company has requested a redesignation of <br /> ..• <br /> I land use for some recently purchased property adjacent to their exist- <br /> Lug business. t assume. that they are planning to expand their concrete <br /> operation. <br /> Sometime ago (maybe 3 months), we received a complaint from a neighbor <br /> across the railroad tracks saying that Chandler was washing down their- <br /> concrete delivery trucks with some kind of acid and that the runoff was <br /> • comming onto their property. I checked out the complaint and found that <br /> this was true and that a lot of sediment was being deposited in the <br /> ditches and streams in the area as- well. <br /> I contacted the Orange County Erosion and Sedimentation Control Depart- <br /> ment and the State Department of Natural Resources and Community Devel- <br /> opment, Division of Environmental Management. I accompanied Ms. McCaskill <br /> and Mr. Adkins of DEM to the plant where the local managers and the <br /> Production Manager acknowledged that they were using muriatic acid to wash <br /> down the trucks and agreed to present the Division of Environmental Manage-. <br /> ment with plans for containing the substance on the property and for proper <br /> disposal. To my knowledge that situation has not been corrected. • <br /> Before the operation is allowed to expand, I feel that the runoff problem <br /> needs to be appropriately addressed. • <br /> If I can be of further assistance please let me know.
