The Town. of Chapel Hilt has'made a traffic analysis on the number of
movements on the three intersections that. are being studied. The following
numbers show the increased impact.
Weaver Dairy and N.C. 86. Level A Service
Current.Movements Chandler's Green
1142 movements 58 movements - 5% increase
•
Erwin. Road and Weaver Pair
820 movements. Y _ Level A Service
21 movements - 3% increase
N.C. 15-501 and Erwin Road Level .0 Service-
? - 286 movements 15 movements - h% increase
The ADT for Weaver Dairy Road, Sunrise Drive and Erwin Road has in-
creased slightly by the new volume conimg out of Chandler's Green. Weaver
Dairy Road will increase from: the current 4187 ADT to 5377 AOT, whereas
the approximate capacity of Weaver Dairy Road is over 10,000 AOT's. The
total capacities for Sunrise' Drive and Erwin Road are not significantly
affected by the .additional ADT's- form this project.
D. Conclusion:
This report has studied the affects of the traffic.generated by
Chandlers. Green on Weaver Dairy Road, Sunrise Drive, Erwin Road
and the intersections that would be affected by these roads.
The roads are very capable of handling much greater volumes than
are generated by this project. Weaver Dairy Road would have to
carry twice as much traffic as it is currently before it would
be at its approximate capacity.
The major intersections have been analyzed and the amount of increase
generated by Chandler's Green at the peak p.m. hour will not reduce
the level of service at these intersections.
The improvement of the property frontage along Sunrise Drive and
. Weaver Dairy Road will allow for left turn lanes which will
facilitate turning ing traffic entering the new development.
I -
