Lake Orange has a rated capacity of 2.6 mgd. Water demand can ;
be- as high as 4.4 mgd (.6 used by Orange Alamance, 2.1. by Hillsborough ,s=
and the OWASA, and 1.7 in unmet need for instream flow).
1992 Besides the current deficit of 1.8 mgd projected growth will require
an additional 1.62 mgd for Hillsborough and .54 by Orange Alamance (a F,
total of 3.96 additional capacity not counting the OWASA need. The
outcome of efforts to build Cane Creek to full size will determine what, if
any, growth factor to plan for the OWASA).
Projected need is a new reservoir to provide a 30 year safe yield of 5.T6
mgd or above. Preliminary study shows that it could be constructed on
Seven Mile Creek, Corporation Lake or the Upper West Fork of the Eno.
Estimated cost (in current dollar value) at the latter locations is $12.63
million.
SEWER:
Orange County's -only involvement in sewers is a recent contract with
U.S. Farmers Home Administration to construct an outfall line to serve
Efland School and the adjacent properties. The sewage will be treated at
the Hillsborough plant.
Estimated Cost - Phase 1 $1.15 million
1.54
Estimated Cost - Phase 11
