If you
would like to evaluate your current eligibility call Mrs. Summey at 967-9251
extension 206. She will be able to evaluate your circumstances if you give her
accurate information on your expensesoeach month and the source and amount- of money
you receive each month.
Medicaid: This program is designed to assist* low income citizens with medical pay-
ments of all types. For persons under 65 years of age a physical exam is required
with the physician stating that you are disabled (unable to be employed). This
medical information is reviewed by Medical specialist in Raleigh who make the final
decision. If you ,are 'declared medically eligible you also must be financially
eligible. In your case you would be required to spend approximately $150.00 per
month on medical care before the program would be of assistance. The program was
designed as protection against large medical bills therefore -if you have a hospital-
ization or other large -medical bill you may want to request a 'referral for Medicaid
Assistance.
Energy Assistance: our records indicate you are also aware of this program. Appli-
cations will begin for 1985 on October 15th in our office at 410 Caldwell Street,
Chapel Hill.
