Kelly <br /> Route 2, Box 330 <br /> • <br /> Mebane, NC 27302 <br /> Statement of Justification <br /> The applicants herein state that the following plans, drawings, data, <br /> maps & illustrations presented with this application complies in every <br /> aspect to the intent of the standard established by Article 8.8.24 covering <br /> Historic Structures-Non-Residential Reuse/Mixed Use (Class A Special Use). <br /> The applicants tender the following evidence of finding of fact as <br /> support of issuance of Special Use Permit. <br /> I. Finding #1: That the property being restored has been designated <br /> and duly marked as a Historic site by the state of N. C. Department of <br /> Cultural Resources Division of Archives and History duly noted as such <br /> commencing in 1941. <br /> Findinq #2: That the property being restored has been designated <br /> in the National Register of Historic Places since January 18, 1978. (Entry <br /> #513). Entry in the National Register of Historic Place opens the site for <br /> Public visitation, thus promoting historical education. <br /> Finding_#3: The importance of the site is emphasized in the <br /> Statement of Significance outlined in the attached National Register of <br /> Historic Places Nomination Form. ' <br /> Findinq #4: Additional historical materials have been uncovered <br /> as restoration has progressed. Case at hand concerns the discovery of the <br /> site of the Bingham School confirmed by a dig by the Historical Archeologist <br /> of N. C. Department of Archives and History. In addition, a site has been <br /> uncovered of a building that pre-dates any existing late 18th century <br /> remaining. It is the intent of the applicants to make these sites available <br /> for public viewing. <br /> II. Finding #1: Site Plan <br /> A. Site Plan attached, prepared by ENT Land Surveys, Inc. of <br /> Hillsborough, NC. <br /> 410 B. On-site signage to. be a modest oval approximate 36" x 24" held <br /> by a hand-forged iron frame extending 3' above a 5' gate post - no illumine- <br />
