115 <br /> 4 .. . <br /> • <br /> 14 <br /> Between the May 26 Public Hearing and June 17 <br /> Planning Board meeting, Mr. Chandler approached the <br /> Planning Staff and inquired as to what he could do to <br /> improve the chances for approval of his LOP <br /> amendment . <br /> He was advised to submit an amended plan wherein he <br /> would request just enough area to encompass the <br /> containment ponds . <br /> It was felt that this suggestion would focus on the <br /> immediate problem at hand, that being the legal <br /> containment and re—use of run—off and wash water <br /> (from the Chandler site) . It would also remove from <br /> consideration several associated problems identified <br /> with the original request at the public hearing. <br /> One of these was the second access point to NC 10. <br /> Another was the fear of area residents that if the <br /> original submittal was approved and rezoning took <br /> • place Chandler would eventually expand this operation <br /> to cover the whole site. <br /> The revised plan submitted by Mr. Chandler shows the <br /> line as suggested by his engineers and the line that <br /> Planning Staff recommends. <br /> The area recommended by Staff contains .88 acres . <br /> This breaks down as follows: .19 acres — Old NC 10 <br /> right—of—way, .23 acres — Southern Railroad right—of— <br /> way, .44 acres — remainder. <br /> Bell continued that if the .86 acre area were rezoned <br /> and used, screening and Landscaping requirements <br /> would - remove another .10 acre from consideration <br /> Leaving .34 acre available for use. <br /> Bell noted that Staff looks upon this as an amendment <br /> to correct a public health hazard rather than an <br /> amendment to complement any expansion plans Chandler <br /> Concrete may have . <br /> • <br /> Mr. T.
