Part of <br /> this amount is offset by revenue from subleases to Central <br /> Piedmont Job Training Council for a classroom (850 feet) and to <br /> the Association for Retarded Citizens for office space (433 <br /> feet). <br /> The Town is willing to extend the period for an additional two <br /> years providing the rate and amount of footage can be raised. <br /> Instead of the 6,885 foot area now on three floors it is pro- <br /> posed that 9,235 feet on all four floors be leased with rates <br /> assigned as follows: <br /> Sou. Ft. Rate Cost <br /> Basement (minus northeast corner) 2,359 $4.00 <br /> Ground Floor 2,900 $6.00 <br /> Mezzanine 1,085 $6.00 <br /> Second Floor - 12;900 $6.00 <br /> Total 9,244 $50,746 <br /> The County has need for the additional space. Construction <br /> activity to start in January for Rosemary square will likely <br /> require the district court to be moved from the Old Post Office. <br /> In order to keep the court function in Chapel Hill it appears <br /> best to reactivate space at 100 West Rosemary for this purpose. <br /> Holding cells are already available in the basement whereas the <br /> former council chamber could be renovated for a courtroom and <br /> space now occupied for other offices could house Clerk of Court <br /> personnel. <br />
