S. 105-373(g) HILLSBOROUGH- 732-9361 <br /> CHAPEL HILL- 967-9251 <br /> MEBANE- 227-2031 <br /> DURHAM- 688-7331 <br /> • <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> To remove from the Tax Collectors Levy Personal Property accounts that <br /> have not been active since 1980. <br /> NEED: <br /> To enable the County Finance Office and the Auditors to determine the <br /> accounts that are active and collectable..Also these accounts can be <br /> relieved from the Tax Collectors Insolvent list and enable the Tax <br /> Collectors Office to address those that are collectable. <br /> IMPACT: <br /> Reduce the outstanding accounts on the Insolvent list. <br /> The effect would be not to release these accounts but to shift them from the <br /> annual levy collection list to a list of bills for later collection when it <br /> appears a match with a known owner can be made. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br /> Authorize- the- Tax Collector to remove persons ontlie.insolvent list whose <br /> -bills are 5 or moie years past due and are deemed uncollectable under the <br /> . current year charge of taxes owed. <br /> •• <br />
