12
4111 Be noted that anything to do with 1-40 should be
high priority.
Margison had concerns as follows:
1) Water/Sewer extension policy
2) Prezoning
3) Thoroughfare plan
4) 1-40
Gordon noted that one thing she felt that the Board
should be very clear about was the concept of what
Orange County should "look like" in the future.
She was especially interested in seeing 1-40 area
plans.
She felt the next thing that was needed was to
provide the infrastructure to support this
development and coordinate efforts for a
water/sewer extension policy and a thoroughfare
plan.
She also expressed a desire for standards
regarding industrial/commercial development and
location.
Another concern was the revision of the Zoning
Ordinance in regards to planned developments and
special use permits.
Discussion on the preservation of farm land
followed.
Pilkey noted that nothing was mentioned under the
long range concerns about the preservation of
farmland.
Gordon commented that prime farmland needed to be
preserved for future growth.
Kizer also noted that all around the world there
seems to be a temporary excess in the supply of
food and that in the future this will perhaps not
be so. Thus, preservation of farmland is still an
important issue.
Agenda Item 010
Planning: Staff Work Program 1985-86
