Excerpt from April 15, 1985 Planning Board Minutes <br /> 10 <br /> 1111 <br /> Planning: Short Term Concerns <br /> Public Hearing Policies DRAFT <br /> Gordon reviewed the public hearing policies. <br /> Kizer expressed concern about using arbitrary means <br /> to limit development. He felt projects should be <br /> approved or denied only on their merit, not on time <br /> constraints. <br /> Gordon felt that what was at issue was time for <br /> consideration of projects. <br /> Kizer said that public hearings should only be <br /> continued for specific items and only if there is a <br /> need for clarification of information already <br /> presented. He continued that incomplete <br /> applications should not be considered. <br /> Kizer felt that the public was not properly <br /> informed about the information requirements for the <br /> Oakwood Estates Plan. <br /> It was the consensus of the Board that at the time <br /> notices were sent out to property owners, some <br /> brief information also be sent telling property <br /> owners what they would need to produce as evidence <br /> if they were in opposition to the developers <br /> request. <br /> MOTION: Pilkey moved that Planning Staff display a large <br /> land use plan wall map at each Planning Board <br /> meeting showing subdivisions and I-40, as well as <br /> the Joint Planning Area. Seconded by Kizer. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. <br /> Smith suggested that it would possibly take two <br /> maps in order that all information would be <br /> readable. <br /> Agenda Item #9 <br /> Long Term Concerns. <br /> a. Priorities <br /> Gordon requested input from Board members <br /> concerning long range planning priorities. <br /> Kizer noted three items that he felt were extremely <br /> 4111 important: <br /> 1) Water <br />
