(MEMO FROM PLANNING Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> DIRECTOR TO COUNTY MANAGER DATED JUNE 6, Chapel Hill - 968-4501 <br /> 1985) <br /> PURPOSE: To consider work program elements and establish priorities for the Planning <br /> Department in the 1985-86 fiscal year. <br /> NEED: During the current 1984-85 fiscal year, the Board of Commissioners and • , <br /> Planning Board have directed the Planning Staff to undertake various <br /> tasks involving further refinement of the Land Use Plan, the updating <br /> and/or addition of development standards,. clarification of policy issues <br /> and the initiation of a strong enforcement posture. As the .Bbard of <br /> Commissioner's is currently considering the proposed 1985-86 budget, it is <br /> an opportune time to meet with the Planning Board and develop work program <br /> priorities for the Planning Department in the forthcoming fiscal year. <br /> IMPACT: • The establishment of a work program for the Planning Department, including <br /> the assignment of priorities to individual tasks or work elements, would <br /> • provide a yardstick by which to measure the Department in terms of goal: accomplish- <br /> ment; provide the Staff, Planning Board and Commissioners with a common <br /> set of issues to address; and to provide a means •of -considering'utrade-off's" when <br /> issues arise in the coming year which demand a higher priority. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: As the Boards decide. . <br /> • <br />
