•
°
14-
PHILIP POST
& ASSOCIATES
ENGIUEERS/PLANNERS/SURVEYORS
#52504
24 May 1985
Ms. Susan Smith
Orange County Planning Department
106 East Margaret Lane
Hillsborough, N.C. 27278
Re: Stormwater Management Plan for
West 10 Mobile Park
Dear Ms. Smith:
' The Stormwater Management Plan that we recently submitted to you
for West 10 Mobile Park, is of the format and detail required for pro-
tected watershed basins in the University Lake Watershed. We realize
that this project lies within a protected watershed and that the format
of the submitted Plan does not address all of the requirements of sec-
,
tion 6.23 of the County Ordinance for Watershed Areas classified as
5 - - PW-II. We further understand that infiltration of the first one-half
• inch of stormwater runoff from impervious areas is the intention of
Stormwater Management Plans for PW-II Basins.
We are currently working to revise the submitted plan to meet
the requirements of the Ordinance for PW-II Watersheds. The revised
° • plan will emphasize infiltration of stormwater runoff into the ground
and not peak flow reduction. We are uncertain how Orange County pro-
' poses surface water will infiltrate into soils in the County in view of
the predominence of heavy clay soils throughout the County. In this
respect, we need assistance from the staff on how the Ordinance can be
met at this site or any other site in the County. Upon completion of
the revised Stormwater Management Plan, we will forward the Plan to
the Planning Department. We anticipate finishing the revised Plan by
Friday, May 31, 1985.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Sincerely,
0A0/2/ctri 44/feerVid5
B.
