In event the facilities fail to perform satisfactorily, the Permittee shall <br /> take such immediate corrective action. as may be required by this Department. <br /> L <br /> 5. Diversion or bypassing of the untreated sludge from the sludge land aPPllcitlo <br /> facilities is prohibited. <br /> 6. The facilities shall be effectively maintained and operated as a non-discharje <br /> system to prevent the discharge of any sludge into the surface waters of the <br /> State. <br /> 7. This permit is not transferable. <br /> 8. The issuance of this Permit shall not relieve the orange Water and Sewer <br /> Authority of the responsibility of damages due to groundwater Pollution. <br /> 9. Adequate provisions shall be taken to prevent wind erosion and surface runOf1 <br /> from conveying pollutants from the sludge application area onto the adjacent <br /> property and/or surface waters. <br /> 10. Sludge shall not be applied in inclement weather or until 24 hours fo.Uoc_yin& <br /> a rainfall event of h--inch or greater in 24 hours. Emergency sludge disposa <br /> measures shall be approved by the Division of Environmental Management. <br /> 11- NO type of sludge other than that from the Orange Water and Sewer Authority s <br /> W <br /> Mason Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant combined in accordance with the present <br /> or proposed methods with sludge from the Janes Ferry Road Water Plant shall <br /> be placed on the disposal sites. <br /> 12. A 100-foot suffer shall be maintained between each landowner's Property lines <br /> and any applied sludge, and a 200-foot buffer, shall be maintained between <br /> any residence⢠and any applied sludge. <br /> 13. Sludge shall be evenly applied and then plowed in Within 24 hours after appl, <br /> cation where no cover crop is established. <br /> .14. The sites shall be adequately limed to 'a soil pH of 6.5 prior to sludge <br /> applications. <br /> IS. No root or leaf crops for public consumption shall be <br /> raised On this -site. <br /> 16. Any moditaring deemed necessary by the Division of Environmental Management <br /> will be done and an acceptable sampling and reporting schedule shall be <br /> followed. This may include monitoring of surface water, groundwater, soil <br /> crop residue and salable crops. <br /> a. Monitoring wells shall be constructed and sampling schedules arranged 'R", <br /> required by the Division of Environmental Management and constructed <br /> accordance with 10 NCAC 2C 0.0100. <br />
