03€ <br /> 8 <br /> 3) Amend Private Road Standards (page 1) to delete <br /> the provision regarding Class C roads less than <br /> 500' or less in length, thereby requiring that <br /> they be constructed. <br /> Gordon asked if staff had , spoken with the <br /> County Attorney. Smith, responded that they <br /> had, and that the attorney has raised questions <br /> regarding the matter of actual construction <br /> versus bonding of roads to be constructed. <br /> The Board discussed the difference private <br /> roads versus driveways. <br /> The Board discussed volunteer fire department <br /> needs for signs on private roads. Best <br /> indicate that each volunteer fire district maps <br /> the roads in the district. <br /> Yuhasz expressed concern of old roads having <br /> problems meeting current subdivision standards. <br /> Kizer emphasized that the key standard was the <br /> legal guarantee of access over time. He noted <br /> that even if the road is never built access is <br /> recorded for the future. <br /> Shanklin questioned requiring signs on private <br /> roads. The Board discussed this matter. <br /> Shanklin preferred that property owners have an <br /> option in providing road signs. <br /> Motion: Shanklin moved alternative #2 amend Private <br /> Road Standards section ' .a. N. ._to to <br /> provide as follows: "Class C roads under 500' <br /> in length are reqired to be named but are not <br /> required to have a road sign provided. <br /> Yuhasz seconded. <br /> Best inquired how roads were named. Smith <br /> responded, staff reviews proposed names to <br /> prevent road name duplication with road names <br /> in the County and surrounding area and <br /> indicated that staff maintained an available <br /> road name file. <br /> Yuhasz asked if the Board should consider <br /> deleting the road maintenance agreement for <br /> Class C roads under 500' . Kizer responded that <br /> it was premature to discuss whether other <br /> statutes are applicable, indicating a desire to <br /> discuss- the matter with the County Attorney. <br /> Gordon advised the Board to keep to the narrow <br />
