CHAPEL HILL - 967-9251 <br /> MEBANE - 227-2031 <br /> DURHAM - 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: Approve program amendment for transfer of funds to the street improvements <br /> Budget. Award street improvementicontract for the Councilville Community <br /> Development Project Area. <br /> NEED: On Thursday, March 21, 1985 a bid opening was conducted by the John R. <br /> McAdams Company (Consulting Engineers) and the Housing and Community <br /> Development Staff. Three bona fide bids were received. The John R. <br /> McAdams Company has tabulated all bids. Mr. McAdams will present the <br /> bid results to the Board. <br /> The lowest bid received put the street improvemenis cost $98,125 over the <br /> budgeted amount (budgeted amount was derived from estimate given by <br /> the John R. McAdams Company) . After review of the Housing and Community <br /> Development Departmental budget,staff proposes that $40,000 be transferred <br /> from Property Acquistion; $25,000 from Housing Rehabilitation and $33,125 <br /> from Section 8 Surplus in order to have funds sufficient to award contract. <br /> • <br /> IMPACT: The approval of program amendment and award of the street improvements • <br /> contract will facilitate the timely implementation of this community <br /> development program activity. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve program amendment to transfer $98,125 to the street <br /> improvements budget :001aigard the street improvements contract . <br /> to lowest responsible bidder, Mellott Construction Company, Inc. carrboro, <br /> • N.C. <br /> • . • <br />
