(continued) <br /> The "Orange Choice", a county visual appearance awareness program, was <br /> revised and presented to various groups. The Orange County Rural Heritage <br /> Program,designed to document the county's rural and agricultural past, was <br /> launched. Extension participated in organizing the Orange County Crime- <br /> stoppers, and constructed a State Fair exhibit in Community and Rural Development. <br /> Orange Extension's most visible program, 4-H Youth, develops productive and <br /> useful citizens through educational programs for over 1 ,300 girls and boys.. <br /> 400 adult volunteers participated in leading these youth in '84. Families <br /> are involved in 4-H clubs. Teen pregnancy, substance abuse and juvenile <br /> crime are problems that affect youth. 4-H addresses these problems through <br /> • preventive educational programs in leadership, economics/careers and job, <br /> life skills development, club expansion, and family involvement. <br /> The expertise and success of Orange 4-H agents is in demand throughout the <br /> area and state. They are invited to share their successes and programs on <br /> numerous occasions. Orange 4-H'ers and leaders serve in district leadership <br /> positions. <br /> E. Since the Orange Extension is now at full staff and there are three more <br /> years to go on the current long-range program, no new initiatives are <br /> anticipated. We are currently updating and strengthening our Extension <br /> Advisory Leadership System to reflect the changing conditions and needs of <br /> Orange County citizens. <br /> • i <br />
