Fee for service clients received <br /> 1,148 visits (5,316 hours while Title III clients received 246 <br /> visits (49 2. hours) . <br /> Approximately half of all referrals come from the some Health <br /> Agency for extended. service to clients beyond that covered by <br /> Medicare, Medicaid,. and private insurance. Only about one per- <br /> cent of the referrals comes from County Health and Social Ser- <br /> vices. The remaining requests are self referrals, family mem- <br /> bers, private organizations and hospitals. <br /> 3. Chore~-Eandihelper Service <br /> A. Overall Senior Objective <br /> The Chore-Eandihelper objective is to assist 100 older adults <br /> with special chores or- minor home--repairs involving 400 direct <br /> service hours.. <br /> 8. Service Desertion and 3ighlights <br /> Offered out of the Centers, the service provided to older persons. <br /> unable to pay or find help with minor repairs or special chores <br /> an a short time basis (such as moving items, replacing light <br /> bulbs, gutter• repairs, install hand rail, mowing a yard, etc.) . <br /> A list of chores and repairs are available on a flyer distrib- <br /> . uted to senior citizens. The program complements an existing <br /> Department of Social Services' chore program (aides working in. <br /> homes weekly) for Title XX eligible clients and coordinates <br /> its service with JOCCA's major weatherization/home improvement <br /> program. ' heSillsborough Senior Center Coordinator has served <br /> as part-time coordinator to handle, review and schedule re- <br /> quests for the chore--handihelpers provided by the Title V <br /> Senior Worker Program (one part-time worker) and recruited volun- <br /> teers. <br /> The Chore-Handihelper service has already reached 72% of its <br /> service objective ia the- first six months of FY84-85. The pro- <br /> gram has secured vital materials through Duke Power Company and <br /> the Sandi-Clean Family Foundation as well as private donations. <br /> In the future the Chore program may require additional manpower <br /> and supplies to meet the demand. <br />
