Announcements and Petitions by Board Members <br /> Commissioner Pelissier had no petitions. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs asked if the Manager could work with the school systems to set <br /> up a social event for the three Boards: Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS), Orange <br /> County Schools (OCS), and the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). He asked if this <br /> could be scheduled after Labor Day. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs said the BOCC has received many emails about erosion control. <br /> He said it may be worth addressing the topic prior to the summer break. <br /> Bonnie Hammersley said staff is drafting a response for the Chair to sign and send to <br /> the concerned persons. <br /> Craig Benedict said last year's budget added a half-year position, but the department <br /> was not fully staffed until May 2016, and this new employee is in the process of being trained. <br /> He said staff will work with the Town of Chapel Hill also to clarify expectation as related to <br /> erosion control. <br /> Commissioner Rich said there is a ribbon cutting for a Habitat for Humanity Home on <br /> Friday, June 24th at 3:00 p.m., in Efland. She said the recipient is a County employee. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin had no petitions. <br /> Commissioner Burroughs had no petitions. <br /> Commissioner Price said she asked previously about the salaries for law enforcement, <br /> and hoped there could be a report in the fall. She said she forwarded an email about Durham <br /> Tech receiving a grant from Duke Energy. <br /> Commissioner Price said to John Roberts that the Board received a press release from <br /> the State about expanding broadband, and she asked if John Roberts could research this <br /> information for clarity and what it means for counties. <br /> Commissioner Price asked if there is going to be a further discussion about the merger <br /> of the Mental Health of America and Freedom House this evening. <br /> Bonnie Hammersley said she responded by email about this merger, and also noted <br /> that the woman with knowledge about this topic said she would come speak tonight, but has <br /> not yet arrived. <br /> Chair McKee had no petitions. <br /> Chair McKee reviewed items at the Commissioners' places (noted above). <br /> 4.
