11 <br /> Commissioner Jacobs referred to the Compton Pond and the hydrilla problem, and said <br /> he hoped that staff would recommend the least harmful chemicals, as was done with the Eno <br /> River years ago. <br /> David Stancil, Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation Director, <br /> said his understanding is that the same sort of treatment that was used in the Eno River will be <br /> used again, and it may be even safer at this point, but he would double check. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS (on all three items on white sheet) <br /> Discussion of Outside Agencies — Page 410 in budget book <br /> The Board reviewed each of the following items, finalizing numbers: <br /> Outside Agency Funding <br /> Behavioral Insights, Inc. $4,000 <br /> Boys and Girls Club of NC $5,000 <br /> Child Care Services Assoc. -0- (duplication of DSS services) <br /> Hillsborough Arts Council $7,500 <br /> Mental Health of America $5,000 <br /> Orange County Living Wage $16,750 <br /> WCOM $1,000 <br /> Rebuilding Together the Triangle $10,000 <br /> TABLE $5,000 <br /> Triangle Bikeworks $1,000 <br /> Volunteers for Youth $7,500 <br /> Youth Community Project $4,750 <br /> Commissioner Jacobs asked the Department of Social Services (DSS) to look at all of <br /> these groups that serve children, to determine if there are duplicative services. <br /> Paul Laughton said taking the above numbers into account, the remaining funds total <br /> $46,697. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Burroughs, seconded by Commissioner Rich to <br /> fund, as listed, all of the agencies on page 410, except the Orange County Living Wage and <br /> the Hillsborough Arts Council. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> Hillsborough Arts Council <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Chair McKee to fund the <br /> Hillsborough Arts Council at $7,500. <br /> VOTE: Ayes, 3 (Chair McKee, Commissioner Burroughs, Commissioner Price); Nayes, 4 <br /> (Commissioner Dorosin, Commissioner Rich, Commissioner Jacobs, Commissioner Pelissier) <br /> Motion Fails <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Dorosin to <br /> fund the Hillsborough Arts Council for $5,000. <br />
