She said she interviewed the entire Arts Commission Advisory Board prior <br /> to the position becoming vacant. She said it is hoped that the new employee will work to unite <br /> the arts community. <br /> Commissioner Rich said she does not want to duplicate what Hillsborough is doing with <br /> this position. She said she does not want to give too much funding to Hillsborough, when the <br /> County is seeking to bring on someone who will focus on promoting the arts across the <br /> County. <br /> Commissioner Price said the Hillsborough Arts Council is seeking to provide on going <br /> support to an existing part-time staff position. She said there are similarities, but the <br /> Hillsborough Arts Council and County positions are not the same. <br /> Travis Myren resumed the presentation: <br /> Community Services <br /> • Orange Public Transportation <br /> o Create Department of Public Transportation <br /> o Report to the County Manager <br /> o Department Director effective 1/1/17 - $33,131 <br /> o Three additional buses - $31,678 <br /> ➢ 10-20% County share <br /> o Fare boxes - $68,000 <br /> ➢ Prepaid fare cards <br /> ➢ Bus passes <br /> Orange Public Transportation: Bus Service <br /> Commissioner Jacobs asked if this is simply a functional unit of <br /> Planning/Transportation. <br /> Bonnie Hammersley said this department will work in collaboration with other <br /> departments, community agencies, Chapel Hill Transit and Triangle Transit, but also with <br /> County Planning and Transportation.
