He said there are
19,959 budgeted students for both school districts, at the per pupil rate of$3,868, totaling
$77,201,412.
Commissioner Jacobs said he recalled discussing the idea of having an asterisk to
indicate that the State reporting formula did not reflect the total per pupil as adjusted by the
Manager's to eliminate the fair funding formula.
Paul Laughton said these references have been made in the education section.
Commissioner Jacobs asked if the percentage increase could be given.
Paul Laughton said, with the new appropriation amount recommendation through the
fair funding, as well as the Board's approved funding, the increase is approximately 4.6% from
last year. He said the total number of students decreased in both school systems, and debt
service is also less.
A motion was made by Commissioner Dorosin, seconded by Commissioner Rich to
adopt—Attachment 2 - the FY2016-17 Budget Ordinance Orange County, North Carolina.
VOTE: UNANIMOUS
A motion was made by Commissioner Dorosin, seconded by Commissioner Rich to
adopt Attachment 3 for the County Approved Grant projects FY 2016-17, totaling $652,605.
VOTE: UNANIMOUS
A motion was made by Commissioner Pelissier, seconded by Commissioner Rich to
adopt Attachment 4, the FY 2016-17 County Fee Schedule.
VOTE: UNANIMOUS
b.
