W. Ward Construction CO., Durham - $72,623.00
Delta Construction Co., Inc., Durham - 82,462.00
Durham Construction Co., Inc., Durham - 82,700.00
Security Builders, Chapel Hill - 85,700.00
George Workman Construction Co. - 98,663.00
IMPACT: Two problems exist. The first is a budgetary problem as the low •
bid exceeds budget by $16,323 which will require a reduction in
specifications. The second is a bidding problem. North
Carolina general statutes require that separate bids be
solicited for each branch of work (HVAC, general, plumbing,
electrical) when the expenditure is to exceed $50,000.00
Prior to solicitation of bids, it was estimated by the architect
that the cost of construction - would be less than $50,000.
Consequently, bids were solicited from general contractors only
for all aspects of work.
In that the low bid came. in at $72,623.00. The project must be
re-bid with separate bids solicited for each branch of work.
