62 <br /> ARTICLE VI <br /> THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN <br /> 1. 0 PURPOSE: <br /> The classification plan provides a complete inventory <br /> of all full-time permanent positions in the service of <br /> Orange County. <br /> 2.0 POLICY <br /> It is the policy of Orange County to group each posi- <br /> tion into a class of work with a descriptive title, <br /> each class containing positions charged with the per- <br /> formance of similar and substantially equal work. <br /> 3. 0 PROCEDURE <br /> The Classification Plan will consist of: <br /> 3. 1 A grouping into their respective classes of <br /> positions which are approximately equal in <br /> complexity and responsibility, which call <br /> for the same range of pay under similar <br /> working conditions; <br /> Class titles descriptive of the work of the <br /> class; <br /> 3. 3 Written specifications for each class of <br /> post ions; and <br /> 3.4 An allocation list containing the class <br /> title of each position in the classified <br /> service and identifying the name of the <br /> incumbent in each position. <br /> Use of Class Titles: <br /> 3.5 Class Titles are to be used in all person- <br /> nel, accounting, budget appropriation, and <br /> financial records. No person will be <br /> appointed to or employed in a position in <br /> the classified service under a title not <br /> included in the classification plan. <br /> • Working titles may be used in the course of <br /> • departmental routine to indicte authority, <br /> • status in the organization, or administra- <br /> tive rank. <br />-7 <br /> Use of Class Specifications: <br />
