50 <br /> • benefits offered under the County' s group <br /> insurance policies. <br /> 13.7.3 The employee may use accumulated vacation <br /> leave, before going on leave without pay. <br /> An employee in the process of using accumu- <br /> lated vacation leave will continue to be in <br /> a leave earning capacity, be entitled to <br /> holidays, be eligible for merit increments, <br /> and be eligible to receive benefits offered <br /> under the County' s group insurance <br /> • policies. <br /> 13.7.4 An employee will be permitted to use any <br /> combination of the options listed above <br /> subject to the approval of the County <br /> Manager. <br /> 13.8 Adoption - An employee may take a leave of absence <br /> when the employee is adopting a child. This will <br /> be considered Maternity Leave and it will not <br /> exceed a period of six (6) months. Options 13.71 <br /> and 13.73 will be available to the employee. <br /> • 14.0 PeTERNITY LEAVE <br /> • 14. 1 Three (3) consecutive days of paternity leave may <br /> be taken by a full-time or part-time permanent or <br /> probationary employee upon the birth of his child. <br /> This leave must be taken during the child's first <br /> week of life. <br /> 14.2 An employee adopting a child will be eligible to <br /> take three (3) consecutive days of Paternity Leave <br /> in accordance with Section 14. 1. He will be <br /> eligible to take this leave after the adoption has <br /> been finalized, during the first week of receipt <br /> of the child into the home. <br /> 15.0 MILITARY LEAVE <br /> 15. 1 Short Term - A Military Leave is granted upon <br /> request, and with essential documentation, to a <br /> full-time permanent or part-time permanent <br /> employee when he/she requires time away from work <br /> because of a mandatory military obligation as a <br /> member of the armed forces reserve units. <br /> 15. 1. 1 Leave with pay, up to a maximum of 96 (for <br /> part-time permanent employees hours will be <br /> • pro rated) regularly scheduled working <br /> hours in a calendar year, is granted for a <br /> mandatory summer encampment. The first day <br /> of such leave is the first regularly <br /> scheduled workday the employee is absent. <br /> The employee retains military pay. <br /> 15. 1.2 Leave with pay is granted to members of the <br /> Army or Air National Guard ordered to <br />
