be used as insurance for salary continuation in the <br /> event an employee is sick. <br /> 6. 1 Sick leave with pay will be granted to an employee <br /> if he is absent from work for any of the following <br /> reasons: <br /> (a) personal illness or injury; <br /> (b) personal physicals, examinations, or treat- <br /> ment; <br /> Cc) quarantine; and <br /> (d) illness of spouse, child, or other member of <br /> the immediate family living in the same <br /> household, which requires the care of the <br /> employee. <br /> 6.2 An employee who is unable to attend work due to <br /> any of the reasons listed above, must inform his <br /> immediate supervisor during the first half-hour of <br /> work on the day or illness. Sheriff Deputies, <br /> Emergency Medical Services employees, and Sanita- <br /> tion Department employees, or other County <br /> employees as necessary, must notify supervisor of <br /> illness prior to time scheduled to go on duty in <br /> accordance with departmental operating prodedures. <br /> 6. 3 The county may require a physician's certificate <br /> concerning the nature of the illness and the <br /> employee's physical capacity to resume his duties <br /> for each occasion on which an employee uses sick <br /> leave. The employee's department head will be <br /> responsible for the application of this provision <br /> so that there will be no abuse of sick leave <br /> privileges. <br /> 6.4 Failure to report illness and improper use of sick <br /> leave will result in loss of pay and/or other <br /> disciplinary action. <br /> 6.5 For sickness in the employee's immediate family <br /> requiring more than three (3) days absence, spe- <br /> cial permission must be obtained from the County <br /> Manager, considering the department head's <br /> recommendations. <br /> 6.6 Full-time permanent and part-time permanent <br /> employees will earn sick leave according to their <br /> regular work week schedules <br /> 6.7 An employee earns sick leave during any month in <br /> cs-xxxxxon. <br />
