41 <br /> each year is recommended to insure shared respon- <br /> sibility and job duties. <br /> 5.4 Vacation leave may be used for sick leave pur- <br /> poses, only when sick leave is exhausted. <br /> 5.5 Vacation leave should be used, for absences due to <br /> E . ; <br /> adverse weather conditions if the County Manager <br /> is; F does not authorize the use of administrative <br /> leave; and for funeral leave of distant relatives. <br /> 5.6 Vacation leave may accumulate to a maximum of <br /> thirty (30) days or 240 hours. When the maximum <br /> has been accumulated, no additional vacation leave <br /> will be earned until some of the accrued leave is <br /> taken. <br /> Note: Employees with more than thirty (30) days <br /> accumulated vacation leave on September 3, 1981, <br /> shall be required to use that portion of annual <br /> leave accumulated in excess of thirty (30) days on <br /> or before September 3, 1984. For these employees, <br /> any such leave earned must be used in the month <br /> earned or be permanently lost. Any unused accumu- <br /> lated annual leave in excess of thirty (30) days <br /> on September 3, 1984 shall be permanently lost for <br /> z all purposes. <br /> 5.7 Annual vacation leave may be taken with the appro- <br /> val of the department head, provided that no <br /> employee may take less than one-half day <br /> increments. <br /> 5.8 Upon submission of an employee's resignation, <br /> , he/she will be paid for vacation leave accumulated <br /> to the date of separation. Vacation pay will not <br /> y exceed a maximum of thirty (30) days or 240 hours. <br /> I <br /> 5.5 At the time of separation, if an employee has <br /> taken more vacation leave than earned, he must pay <br /> the county for all extra leave taken. <br /> ti 5. 10 For involuntary separation due to failure in per- <br /> t` formance of duties, or personal conduct, accumu- <br /> lated annual leave may be paid, given the circum- <br /> stances of each employee's case at the discretion <br /> of the County Manager. <br /> 5. 11 Accumulated vacation leave payments will be made <br /> to the estate of a deceased employee for all ac- <br /> cumulated vacation leave, not to exceed thirty <br /> (30) days or 240 hours. <br /> 6.0 SICK LEAVE <br /> Sick leave is a privilege granted by the Board of Coun- <br /> ty Commissioners, it is not a right which an employee <br /> may demand.
