3.2 In situations involving inclement weather, heavy <br /> snow storms or other unusual conditions affecting <br /> all or a majority of County department and/or <br /> their operation, it is incumbent upon the <br /> department heads to insure that his/her department <br /> is opened to the public at the usual time unless <br /> he/she has received prior notification to the <br /> contrary from the Manager's Office. If for any <br /> reason it is impossible to open an office or <br /> department at the regularly scheduled time, the <br /> Manager's Office must be notified of the situation <br /> as soon as possible. <br /> 3.3 Departments shall remain open for the full <br /> scheduled work shift unless authorization for late <br /> start-up (usually announced over the radio) or <br /> early closing or other deviation is received from <br /> the Manager's Office. Sufficient notice will be <br /> given in either event. Employees who of their own <br /> violation leave work before an official early <br /> closing time has been announced will be required <br /> to use earned annual leave. <br /> 4.0 HOLIDAYS <br /> It shall be the policy of Orange County to grant <br /> compensation for absence on certan holidays proclaimed <br /> by the Board of Commissioners as holidays. <br /> 4. 1 Employees appointed, full-time permanent, part- <br /> time permanent, or in probationary status, shal <br /> receive their regular compensation for the <br /> following holidays, or any other day proclaimed <br /> by the Board of Commissioners as a holiday: <br /> New Year's Day Labor Day <br /> Easter Monday Thanksgiving Day <br /> Memorial Day Day after Thanksgiving <br /> (in lieu of Veterans <br /> Day) <br /> Independence Day Christmas (3 days) <br /> 4.2 Part-time hourly, and temporary employees appoint- <br /> ed for six months or less are not eligible for <br /> regular compensation on holidays. <br /> 4.3 The holiday schedule is issued on a calendar year <br /> basis to each Department Head. Department Heads <br /> shall post and advise employees of the holiday <br /> schedule. <br /> 4.4 Holidays which occur during an employees sick <br /> leave or vacation leave shall not be charged as <br /> sick or vacation for such days off. <br /> 4.5 Employees must be on pay status the day before and <br /> the day after the observed holiday in order to <br /> receive compensation for holidays. <br /> masommangamiiimm ..„_ <br />
