— ' <br /> 38 <br /> 1.0 WORKERS COMPENSATION LEAVE <br /> When the employee is injured in the course of perform- <br /> , ing duties related to the job, benefits are available <br /> under the North Carolina Worker' s Compensation Act. <br /> This benefit is available to all full-time, part-time <br /> count employees. <br /> 1, 1 All injuries arising out of and in the course of <br /> employment should be reported by the employee to <br /> immediate supervisor as soon as possible. The <br /> supervisor and/or department head shall file an <br /> accident report to the Personnel Department within <br /> 24 hours of the time of the accident. <br /> 1. 1. 1 Injuries resulting in a minimum of seven <br /> work days, the employee must go immediately on <br /> leave without pay. The employee will receive all <br /> the benefits for which he may be adjusted eligible <br /> under the Worker's Compensation Act. Employee <br /> will receive weekly benefit payments from the <br /> County's i-nsurance company. <br /> 1.2 Before returning to work a Physician' s Certifiate <br /> ; as to the employee's capacity to resume his/her <br /> duties is mandatory. <br /> 1. 3 Upon reinstatement, an employee will have his <br /> salary computed on the basis of his last salary <br /> plus any merit increment or other salary increase <br /> to which he would have been entitled during his <br /> disability covered by Worker's Compensation. An <br /> employee will retain all accumulated sick, annual <br /> and petty leave while drawing Worker's <br /> Compensation payments in a leave without pay <br /> status, except that petty leave unused by the end <br /> of a calendar year will be lost. <br /> 2.0 SOCIAL SECURITY <br /> Orange County will comply with the Federal Social <br /> Security Laws by matching it's employee's deductions <br /> with equal payments to the system. <br /> 2. 1 If an employee serves under Federal appointment <br /> and is required to contribute to both the Civil <br /> Service Retirement System and the Local <br /> Governmental Employee's Retirement System, the <br /> employees will be exempt and will not have Social <br /> Security Contributions withheld from his pay. <br /> 3.0 ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE <br /> 3. 1 During periods in which the Manager deems it <br /> advisable for an employee not to report to work, <br /> such days in which adverse weather conditions make <br /> travel extremely hazardous, the affected employees <br /> may be granted an administrative leave of absence <br /> at full pay. <br />
