32 <br /> { 7.0 GIFTS ANR GRATUITIES <br /> 7. 1 Any employee shall not accept gifts, gratuities or <br /> loans, whether in the form of service, or promise <br /> from organizations, business concerns, or indivi- <br /> duals with whom he has contact while on official <br /> business of the County. <br /> 7. 1. 1 An official or employee of the county shall <br /> not accept any gift, favor, or thing to <br /> value that may tend to influence him in the <br /> discharge of his duties. <br /> 7. 1.2 An official or employee of the county shall <br /> not grant in the discharge of his duties <br /> any improper favor, service, or thing of <br /> value. <br /> 7.2 These limitations are not intended to prohibit the <br /> acceptance of articles of negligible value which <br /> are distributed generally, not to prohibit employ- <br /> ees from accepting social courtesies which promote <br /> 1 good public relations, nor to prohibit employees <br /> from obtaining loans from regular lending <br /> institutions. <br /> 7.3 Inspectors, contracting officers, enforcement <br /> officers, and other employees should guard against <br /> contacts which might be construed as evidence of <br /> favoritism, coercion, unfair advantage or <br /> collusion. <br /> 8.0 SAFETY,. CONDUCT AND REREORMANCE <br /> It is the objective of this county to conduct all <br /> operations as safely and efficiently as possible. All <br /> county employees should practice supply economy, energy <br /> conservation, security of county equipment and property <br /> and all safety procedures. <br /> � t <br /> 8. 1 Accidents involving injuries of County personnel <br /> using County equipment shall be reported immedi- <br /> ately, as appropriate, to the employee's immediate <br /> =.. <br /> supervisor. If the accident involves a County- <br /> owned and operated vehicle, the report shall be <br /> filed fully and completely as required by the <br /> July 1, 1977 Board of Commissioners resolution <br /> concerning County-owned vehicle accidents. <br /> 8.2 In the case of vehicle operations, county drivers <br /> will be required to own a valid N.C. Driver's <br /> license. County drivers will be expected to <br /> follow the principles of "Defensive Driving", to <br /> I �! <br /> drive so as to prevent accidents in spite of the <br /> incorrect action of others and in spite of adverse <br /> • driving conditions. <br /> S+. <br /> 7,_ <br />
