Deadline for <br /> submission is February 8, 1985. <br /> While program summaries are in the process of being compiled the list of <br /> possible entries is identified here in order for the Board to determine <br /> the areas it wishes to submit. They include: <br /> 1) Redevelopment of Northern Fairview• <br /> This project demonstrates a comprehensive approach for correcting <br /> _ structural and infrastructure deficiencies within a community. <br /> Conditions prior to the project being implemented the deficiencies <br /> were rated by HUD as being the worst community conditions in the <br /> State of North Carolina. <br /> - 2) Response Time Reduction through Better Planning <br /> The project demonstrates how calls-for-service are handled more <br /> promptly through two measures. Sheriff units are dispatched from <br /> prepositioned field locations that are each within a short radius <br /> of every area of the County. Moreover, a swing shift augments <br /> the regular shift during peak hours. Besides aiding promptness <br /> it ensures that adequate manpower is available to address the <br /> service demand .by time-of-day, day-of-week, and by call volume <br /> and rate. <br /> ;, <br />
