ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: March 1, 2007 <br />Action Agen_c)a <br />Item No. d~ <br />SUBJECT: Follow-ua from the BOCC Retreat <br />DEPARTMENT: County Manager <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) <br />No <br />ATTACHMENT(S):. <br />Proposed Order of Business for BOCC <br />Regular Meetings <br />INFORMATION CONTAGT: <br />Laura Blackmon, 245-2300 <br />PURPOSE: To provide some initial staff follow-up information to the discussions from the <br />January .19, 2007 BOCC retreat. <br />BACKGROUND: At the Board's January 19, 2007 retreat, the BOCC discussed a number of <br />issues related to moving the County forward and establishing some priorities to help guide the <br />upcoming FY 2007-08 budget process as well as help focus staff's efforts on areas of greatest <br />interest. <br />By the end of the retreat discussion, the Board had identified nine areas of priority interest. The <br />Board members had also discussed some proposed revisions in the order of business for <br />regular Board meetings. The Board asked that the County Manager review the conclusions <br />from the retreat and, during March 2007, provide some feedback to the Board on how the nine <br />areas could be addressed. The Board also asked that the Manager propose a new order of <br />business for regular Board meetings based on the comments from Board members and her <br />own thoughts. <br />The Manager has provided information which is attached regarding a proposed new order of <br />business for regular Board meetings. Information regarding the priority discussions from the <br />Board retreat will be provided at the work session and in the coming weeks. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with receiving some initial staff <br />follow-up information to the discussions from the January 19, 2007 BOCC retreat. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board receive some initial staff <br />follow-up information to the discussions from the January 19, 2007 BOCC retreat and provide <br />any comments or questions. <br />
