11 <br /> 1 Outside Agency Funding <br /> 2 Behavioral Insights, Inc. $4,000 <br /> 3 Boys and Girls Club of NC $5,000 <br /> 4 Child Care Services Assoc. -0- (duplication of DSS services) <br /> 5 Hillsborough Arts Council $7,500 <br /> 6 Mental Health of America $5,000 <br /> 7 Orange County Living Wage $16,750 <br /> 8 WCOM $1,000 <br /> 9 Rebuilding Together the Triangle $10,000 <br /> 10 TABLE $5,000 <br /> 11 Triangle Bikeworks $1,000 <br /> 12 Volunteers for Youth $7,500 <br /> 13 Youth Community Project $4,750 <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Commissioner Jacobs asked the Department of Social Services (DSS) to look at all of <br /> 16 these groups that serve children, to determine if there are duplicative services. <br /> 17 Paul Laughton said taking the above numbers into account, the remaining funds total <br /> 18 $46,697. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 A motion was made by Commissioner Burroughs, seconded by Commissioner Rich to <br /> 21 fund, as listed, all of the agencies on page 410, except the Orange County Living Wage and the <br /> 22 Hillsborough Arts Council. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Hillsborough Arts Council <br /> 27 <br /> 28 A motion was made by Commissioner Price, seconded by Chair McKee to fund the <br /> 29 Hillsborough Arts Council at $7,500. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 VOTE: Ayes, 3 (Chair McKee, Commissioner Burroughs, Commissioner Price); Nayes, 4 <br /> 32 (Commissioner Dorosin, Commissioner Rich, Commissioner Jacobs, Commissioner Pelissier) <br /> 33 <br /> 34 Motion Fails <br /> 35 <br /> 36 A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Dorosin to <br /> 37 fund the Hillsborough Arts Council for $5,000. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Commissioner Price asked if there is a reason this agency is seen differently than the <br /> 40 other outside agencies. <br /> 41 Commissioner Dorosin said the agencies earlier in the evening were all recommended <br /> 42 for funding, and the Arts Council was not. <br /> 43 Commissioner Price said the other agencies on the list were given at least 50% of their <br /> 44 request. <br /> 45 Commissioner Dorosin said he believes this agency will receive money from the Town of <br /> 46 Hillsborough. <br /> 47 Commissioner Price said most agencies receive funding from various sources. <br /> 48 <br /> 49 VOTE: Ayes, 6; Nays, 1 (Commissioner Price) <br /> 50 <br />
