<br /> throughout our district. Several times each year PSF hosts Grant Writing Workshops to provide

<br /> College scholarships, summer enrichment and tutoring funds support 150+students every

<br /> Ephesus Girls'Group uses project-based learning to help empower the fourth- and fifth-grade
<br /> girls in the group to be leaders by having them explore their identity in relation to themselves,
<br /> their families, their future selves and the community. The group focuses on grit, respect,
<br /> empathy, and teamwork (GREAT) and works to teach the girls to value each other cross-
<br /> culturally by exploring these topics together p
<br /> roj using usin art, photography, writing, field trips, and by
<br /> working together on community service ects. The funds we are requesting through this
<br /> grant would be used for weekly activities during rin the school year and for two community service
<br /> projects: making quilts for Project Linus, a group u that accepts donated blankets and quilts and
<br /> provides them to critically ill or traumatized children and teens; and Origami flowers to donate
<br /> to a Women's and Children's group in the community.

<br /> Approximately fifty 4th and 5th grade girls attending Ephesus Elementary School participate in
<br /> the girls' group each year. Many of these girls are of color and/or from low-income families.
<br /> The community service project usually benefits four people who receive the quilts and about 25
<br /> people to whom the origami flowers are given.
