Our vision is to "spark a love of learning in all students." Our mission is "to create <br /> opportunities for students and teachers in every school inthedistrict.^ Since its inception in <br /> 1984, PSF has distributed more than $5.5 million dollars for innovative programs and projects <br /> that otherwise would not have existed in our schools. It is our continuing mission to play the <br /> role of champion for public education by advocating for positive change to make our schools <br /> the very best they can be. Our ultimate goal is to prepare all of the district's students for life as <br /> successful adults in the 215t century, which will benefit not only our children, but our entire <br /> community. <br /> This is what we believe: <br /> • Every child deserves the best possible education <br /> • Excellent teachers ignite learning <br /> • High quality public education is fundamental to a vibrant community <br /> This is what we do: <br /> • Fund promising, innovative educational practices <br /> • Partner with the community to raise funds that support teachers and students <br /> m Foster opportunities for feedback with teachers and parents <br /> • Manage funds responsibly with the highest degree of ethical standards <br /> Current Progra s and Services — a brief list <br /> Grants--PSF is both a fundraiser and a grant-maker. Five categories of grants are available to <br /> Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS) staff, including the Achievers Fund, Classroom and <br /> Enrichment Grants, Strowd-Roses fund grants, International Teacher Travel grants, and <br /> Professional Development Impact grants. Over$150,000 was distributed to teachers, <br /> principals, and staff in our school district last year through the grant program. <br /> Fundraising Events—The Walk for Education mobilizes community support and enables schools <br /> to generate funds for their needed programs. Over$100,000 was raised by schools in 2014-15 <br /> for their own use. The 5K for Education targets teachers and staff, in addition to parents, <br /> students, and community members, and generates funds for schools and PSF grants. The <br /> "Teachers First Breakfast and Roses" kicks off Teacher Appreciation Week every year with a <br /> wonderful breakfast for teachers and staff. Proceeds of over $90,000 are used for teacher <br /> programs and grants. <br /> Endowed Teaching Chairs, Teaching Awards, and National Board Certification Scholarships are <br /> additional means of support to recognize outstanding teachers.
