ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: February 6, 2007
Action Agendda~
Item No. J
SUBJECT: Downtown Hillsborough County Campus Buildings Occupancy Approval
DEPARTMENT: Purchasing & Central Services PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No
ATTACHMENT(S):
Departmental Occupancy List
INFORMATION CONTACT:
Pam Jones, 919-245-2650
PURPOSE: To formally approve the occupancy list of departments for the downtown
Hillsborough county campus buildings.
BACKGROUND: As part of the January 30, 2007 work session, the County Manager
presented a list of recommended departments that will occupy the county campus buildings
planned for the downtown Hillsborough county campus as follows:
Gateway Building (floors two and three): Register of Deeds, Land Records, Tax Assessor, Tax
Collector.
Office Building: Planning and Inspections, Economic Development, ERCD, Environmental
Health, Information Systems, County Engineer and as space may allow, Housing and
Community Development and other functions as future reorganization plans may dictate.
Departmental square footage allocations will be addressed during the programming of the
facility, but generally are anticipated to be consistent with the desired space as cited by
departments.
Regulatory approvals have been granted for the Gateway Building and are nearing completion
for the Library and Office Building. Programming the space to suit departmental operations is a
critical element that must be completed in order for the developer to upfit the space
appropriately during the construction process. Approvals granted through this action will allow
that work to proceed.
The office building and the Library are being constructed through a Construction-Manager-at-
Risk agreement with Telesis Construction Company. A lease for the upper two floors of the
third building on the campus (Gateway Building) will be presented to the Board for approval on
February 20, 2007. Within the next few months, the Board will be asked to approve a license
agreement for spaces on the parking deck that will be constructed by Telesis as part of the
project.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is-no direct fiscal impact as a result of this action.
