General: All ductwork must be U.L.Listed, Class 0 or Class I. However, ducts may be Class I <br /> materials when they are not used as vertical risers serving more than two stories or in systems with <br /> air temperature higher than 250°F. <br /> All duct work shall be installed in accordance with applicable requirements of NFPA Bulletin 90A, <br /> SMACNA, and ASHRAE Guide and Data Book. <br /> Duct work sizes indicated are as required for free inside area. Actual dimensions shall be determined <br /> to allow for duct liner specified herein, or if utilized in lieu of blanket insulation (if approved by <br /> Designer) and duct size increased to allow for additional friction loss. <br /> Unless otherwise specified or noted, ducts shall be made of galvanized sheet iron or steel and the <br /> finished work shall show no flaking or peeling of the coating at any point more than 1/4"from a cut <br /> edge. All duct connections to air handling units and equipment shall be made with U.L. listed <br /> flameproof flexible connectors. All medium pressure joints and joints at air handling units shall be <br /> sealed with "Hardcast" tape. All other joints shall be sealed with SMACNA duct tape with UL <br /> Listing to UL 181B. <br /> This Contractor shall furnish and install all duct work and miscellaneous metal and materials <br /> required for the proper hanging, installation, and insulation of duct work. <br /> In the design and sizing of ducts concealed in ceiling spaces, an attempt has been made to allow <br /> clearances for light fixtures,piping,structure,and suspended ceiling system. However,the HVAC <br /> contractor shall,in all cases,take field measurements before any duct is fabricated to insure that duct <br /> sizes shown will fit into available space without interference with lighting fixtures,structures,piping <br /> and ceiling systems. In case of conflict,notify Architect/Engineer before proceeding, and relocate <br /> and/or resize as required and directed without additional cost to contract. <br /> B. Metal Gauges: <br /> Thickness of sheetmetal for ducts including elbow,doors,and other details shall not be less than the <br /> following: <br /> Duct Size-Long Side U.S.S.
