Reports <br /> a. Status Report on Orange County Community Centers <br /> The Board received a report on the current activity/status and operational plans for the <br /> County's three community centers. <br /> David Stancil presented the following information: <br /> At its annual retreat in January, the Board identified community centers as a top priority for the <br /> present and upcoming fiscal years. In June 2015 the Board also approved a top priority for the <br /> present and upcoming fiscal years. In June 2015 the Board also approved a new Community <br /> Center Coordinator position with the instruction to synchronize opportunities and activity at the <br /> two existing centers (Efland Cheeks and Rogers Road) and one under construction (Cedar <br /> Grove Community Center) with a plan using the Rogers Road Community Center as a model. <br /> With construction underway at Cedar Grove, David Caldwell was hired as the Community <br /> Center Coordinator and began work in late-January. Working with staff from DEAPR and <br /> AMS, Mr. Caldwell has been meeting regularly with resident groups in both the Efland Cheeks <br /> and Cedar Grove communities to plan for expanded and/or new center operations and to <br /> engage the public in organizing support boards for the centers, future center activities and <br /> program needs. Mr. Caldwell has also worked closely with staff to coordinate furnishings and <br /> equipment for the centers, while still maintaining an active role in the Rogers Road Community <br /> Center, which opened in January 2015. <br />
