Both projects are designed to further the mission the Department on Aging,and to promote <br /> effective communication between and among the Orange County Board of Commissioners,the residents of <br /> Orange County,and the departments and staff of Orange County Government. The intern will work directly <br /> with,and receive guidance and mentorship from, Beverly Shuford,Communication Manager. <br /> Expected Duties& Responsibilities: <br /> 1. Animated Video Project:Conduct research and interviews to develop content for short animated <br /> "how to"videos on departmental services,and aging-related topics. <br /> Work with staff to create scripts based on research and interview findings. <br /> Research animation software,and write a brief report comparing software applications,software <br /> pros&cons,and cost for departmental purchasing decision. <br /> Create short"how to"animated video on one departmental service or topic. <br /> 2. Online Press Page&Media File: If time allows,begin research and organize all press about Orange <br /> County Department on Aging into one departmental media file. Includes: press releases,articles, <br /> public services announcements,and TV and radio interviews and stories. <br /> In preparation for an Online Press Page using media file content to be developed by the <br /> Communication Manager. <br /> Qualifications, Knowledge,Skills,&Abilities: <br /> Qualifications: <br /> • Minimum of pursuit of bachelors or master's degree in Communications,Journalism, Public Relations, <br /> or Marketing <br /> • Preferred qualifications include experience in communications,journalism, public relations,or <br /> marketing <br /> Knowledge,Skills,and Abilities: <br /> • Basic graphic design understanding and skills <br /> • Strong research and interview skills <br /> • Strong understanding of social media <br /> • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications <br /> • Excellent organizational abilities and skills <br /> • Excellent oral and written communication skills <br /> • Creativity and the ability to work independently <br /> • Skill and ability to work with older adults,volunteers,and staff <br /> Physical Requirements: <br /> o Internships pose no special physical requirements,and the Department on Aging encourages people <br /> with diverse abilities to apply. <br />
