54 <br /> Bus Service Enhancements <br /> • Enhanced rural transit service in unincorporated Orange County <br /> Maintain existing services consistent with state law <br /> • Revenues from the County vehicle registration fee of$7.00 as identified in the <br /> plan (see page 21)will be used to support existing bus service <br /> • Continue weekday hourly service on the in-town Hillsborough circulator <br /> ❖ Routes provided by Chapel Hill Transit, may or may not, be included in the plan. <br /> Chapel Hill Transit and its partners will determine which of the improvements will <br /> be included after further public involvement and analysis. <br /> Year six and beyond followina successful sales tax referendum <br /> An additional 6,300 new bus service hours will be provided between year six of the <br /> plan implementation through the end of the program (year 2035) bringing the total to <br /> 40,950 total new bus hours. <br /> Improvements include: <br /> Increase frequency in peak hours <br /> • Increased peak hour service on Pittsboro—Chapel Hill Express <br /> • Increased peak hour service on the existing Triangle Transit Route 800 <br /> between Research Triangle Park and Chapel Hill <br /> • Increased peak hour service in Chapel Hill, Carrboro and UNC <br /> Service Enhancements <br /> • Continued enhancements to rural transit service in unincorporated Orange <br /> County <br /> 9/ //,,01 1. -Page 17 <br />
