2 <br /> Following that April OUTBoard meeting, three (3) additional applications were received through <br /> efforts made by the County Manager's office to address the other two membership groups (the <br /> Sheriff's Department and the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Chamber of Commerce), and to have a <br /> member from the Visitors Bureau Board as a substitute for the Director of the Department. <br /> At its June 15th meeting, the OUTBoard recommended that two OUTBoard members also be <br /> appointed to the Task Force. The recommended revised slate of applicants (Attachment 1) <br /> fulfills all membership category requirements per the proposed amended Resolution and was <br /> reviewed and recommended by the OUTBoard at its June 15, 2016 meeting. An excerpt of the <br /> Minutes for the OUTBoard's April 4th meeting is provided in Attachment 2. <br /> The 18 total applicants translate to three more than the total number provided for in the March <br /> 1st adopted Resolution. Therefore, a proposed amended Resolution is attached for Board of <br /> Commissioners' consideration (Attachment 3). <br /> The Resolution also calls for a BOCC liaison to the task force. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: Other than staff time, there is no immediate financial impact associated <br /> with this item. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable to this <br /> agenda item: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, gang <br /> activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> Efforts to implement the recommendations of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Report through <br /> the creation of a task force will result in positive outcomes related to the above Goal. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board: <br /> 1. Consider and approve the amended Bicycle Safety Task Force Resolution (Attachment <br /> 3); <br /> 2. Review and appoint the 18 applicants that have been recommended by the OUTBoard <br /> (Attachment 1); and <br /> 3. Appoint a BOCC liaison to the Task Force. <br />
