2 <br /> Several years ago, the Orange County Board of Commissioners studied the feasibility of <br /> providing legal counsel for these services through a DSS staff attorney. At that time, the <br /> Commissioners indicated the desire to continue contracted services for as long as Ms. Holcomb <br /> provided these services. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The contract amount for these legal services during FY 2016-2017 is <br /> $165,000. This cost is the same as the current year's contracted amount for legal services. <br /> Approximately half of this cost will be paid by State and Federal revenues. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable to <br /> this item: <br /> • GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, gang <br /> activity, substance abuse and domestic violence <br /> This contract assists with the reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and <br /> senior injuries, gang activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board accept the Social Services <br /> Board recommendation and approve the contract for legal representation with Holcomb and <br /> Cabe, L.L.P., for FY 2016-17 and authorize the County Manager to sign this agreement, any <br /> amendments, and any renewals subject to County Attorney review and contingent upon <br /> approval of the annual County budget. <br />
