Resolution Honoring Captain Norman James Horton for 28 years of Law <br /> 19 Enforcement Service and Awarding Him His Badge and Sidearm <br /> 20 The Board considered adopting a Resolution honoring Captain Norman James Horton <br /> 21 for 28 years of law enforcement service, and awarding him his badge and sidearm, and <br /> 22 authorizing the Chair to sign. <br /> 23 Commissioner Price read the resolution: <br /> 24 <br /> 25 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS RESOLUTION HONORING <br /> 26 CAPTAIN NORMAN JAMES HORTON FOR 28 YEARS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICE, <br /> 27 AND AWARDING HIM HIS BADGE AND SIDEARM <br /> 28 <br /> 29 WHEREAS, Captain Norman James Horton joined the Orange County Sheriff's Office as a <br /> 30 Deputy on June 20, 1988 and has held the ranks of Deputy, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, <br /> 31 and Captain; and <br /> 32 <br /> 33 WHEREAS, Captain Horton's service and dedication to the Orange County Sheriff's Office and <br /> 34 dedication, service, and accomplishments in the field of law enforcement during his 28 years of <br /> 35 service are hereby recognized and commended; and <br /> 36 <br /> 37 WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute § 20-187.2 provides that retiring officers of the <br /> 38 Orange County Sheriff's Office may receive, at the time of their retirement, the badge worn or <br /> 39 carried by them during their service with Orange County; and <br /> 40 <br /> 41 WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statute § 20-187.2 further provides that the Orange County <br /> 42 Board of Commissioners may, in its discretion, award to a retiring officer the service sidearm of <br /> 43 such retiring officer at a price determined by the Board of Commissioners, upon securing a <br /> 44 permit as required by North Carolina General Statute § 14-402 et seq; and <br /> 45 <br /> 46 WHEREAS, Captain Horton has served as a member of the Orange County Sheriff's Office for <br /> 47 a period of more than 28 years and will retire from the Orange County Sheriff's Office on June <br /> 48 30, 2016; <br /> 49 <br />
