2 <br />Department on Aging <br />2) At its December 4, 2006 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners approved a Service <br />Coordination Renewal Agreement between Manley Estates and Orange County for fiscal <br />year 2006-07. This agreement will allow the Department on Aging to provide social work <br />services for the residents of the First Baptist and Manley Estates senior housing complex in <br />Chapel Hill. The department anticipates receiving $7,200 during FY 2006-07 to offset <br />staffing and operational costs of the service. This budget amendment provides for the <br />receipt of these funds for the above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, column #2) <br />Department of Social Services <br />3) The Department of Social Services has received the following donations for its Adoption <br />Enhancement Fund: <br />a) Foster Care Donations - donated funds totaling $4,857 to help purchase holiday items <br />for foster care clients. <br />b) General Assistance Donations - donated funds totaling $2,025 to help with special <br />needs of clients, including seniors. <br />This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these donated funds. (See Attachment <br />1, column #3) <br />4) The Department of Social Services has received grant funds totaling $2,300 from UNC <br />Hospitals to purchase materials that promote child safety. No county match is required for <br />the receipt of these funds. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these grant <br />funds for the above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, column #4) <br />5) The Department of Social Services has received notification from the State of additional <br />funds for the current fiscal year for the Crisis Intervention program. The department plans to <br />use the additional State allocation of $112,747 to pay for crisis related heating needs for <br />Orange County residents. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds <br />and brings the budget for this program to $247,782 for fiscal year 2006-07. (See <br />Attachment 1, column #5) <br />Library Services <br />6) The Library has received donated funds totaling $500 from Weaver Street Realty for <br />Children's Summer Reading Programs. The department plans to use these for two <br />additional teen programs in the spring. There is no county match required for the receipt of <br />these funds. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these grant funds for the <br />above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, column #6) <br />Orange/Chatham Justice Partnership Program <br />7) The Governor's Crime Commission has awarded a $4,796 grant to Orange County. The <br />Partnership plans to pass the monies to Volunteers for Youth to offset costs associated with <br />their Working Towards the Future workshop series. There is no county match required for <br />the receipt of these funds. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds <br />for the above stated purpose. (See Attachment 1, column #7)
