8 <br />such as the Occoneechee Village in Hillsborough or Duke Homestead or Bennett Place in <br />Durham. <br />In past projects, Orange County staff have prepared a Request for Proposals (RFP) <br />outlining the scope of the work, and advertised the project to consultants who meet the standard <br />criteria. To prepare a budget for this project, staff analyzed several of those past proposals to <br />determine a realistic cost based on the fieldwork (per acre for surface and subsurface <br />investigation and for reconnaissance), background research and reporting of results. (Please <br />see attached chart.) Intensive investigation will be appropriate within the 30-acre "high <br />probability area" and within an area of up to approximately six acres (exact location to be <br />determined) which will likely be disturbed as part of the construction of trails, parking and other <br />facilities. <br />Hollow Rock Access Area/New Hope Preserve <br />Orange County, North Carolina Page 3
