She said the rural schools for children of color were consolidated <br /> into a modern building with plumbing and heat in 1951, due to the efforts of Mary Vincent, who <br /> sold a portion of her land to the County for this purpose, despite 15 years of local efforts to <br /> block such a building. <br /> Commissioner Price petitioned the BOCC to name the Cedar Grove Community Center <br /> in honor, and in memory, of Mary Vincent. <br /> Commissioner Rich apologized for her late arrival.
