WIA/WIOA SUCCESS ARTICLES <br /> ORANGE County <br /> Educational Retraining Engineered Success... <br /> Paul Pacheco became a dislocated worker and found himself t <br /> in need of skills upgrading to obtain suitable employment. \ <br /> Paul visited the Orange County NC Works Career Center in <br /> the spring of 2013, and determined a training plan with Joint <br /> Orange County Community Action staff member, James ,, <br /> Bain. Paul was enrolled in the WIA Dislocated Worker pro- <br /> gram and encouraged to expand on his engineering experi- EMl ' / <br /> ence through Durham Technical Community College. He "�°°"gy""""p <br /> graduated in the summer of 2014 with an Associate Degree ..-, <br /> in Information Systems Security. Paul obtained employment . <br /> with EMC Corp of Research Triangle Park as a Technical <br /> Support Engineer. Starting wages received far exceeded - j' <br /> those from his previous employment. Educational retraining /t <br /> engineered his success. I.: !MI <br /> I< I <br /> Air <br /> #WIOA IN ACTION <br /> Finding His Road To Success Through WIOA <br /> Robert Strain, an older worker, visited the Orange County NC Works Career NC Center with <br /> the challenge of obtaining suitable employment. His current part time job was physically de- <br /> manding and did not provide a self-supportive wage. 05 <br /> Robert met with James Bain, JOCCA Case Manager <br /> who discussed a variety of training options with him <br /> that could result in meeting his employment goals.
