5 <br /> independence for community residents, and engage them in providing what <br /> services, activities and programs they feel are needed, as opposed to what they are <br /> told they need. <br /> All staff and permanent volunteers will go through a training protocol to include <br /> Orange County policy and procedures, as well as building operation specifics to the <br /> center in question, to include handling emergency issues to basic kitchen safety <br /> rules and basic first aid. <br /> As noted above, each center will be operated by staff from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm <br /> on weekdays. Additional hours of operation and center activities will be handles by <br /> trained regular volunteers, once a contract for operations with the neighborhood <br /> association is completed and executed. <br /> All centers will be planning fundraisers and community functions to promote <br /> community engagement and support the centers. <br /> The following `checklist' provides an overview of the steps needed for neighborhood <br /> associations to contract with the County for center operations: <br /> 2 <br />
