23 <br /> 1 Commissioner Rich said she wanted to get this committee started as soon as possible. <br /> 2 Commissioner Jacobs suggested appointing just two positions tonight and re-advertising <br /> 3 for subsequent positions. <br /> 4 Commissioner Price said she does not want to stop the process, but there should be <br /> 5 more diversity. <br /> 6 Commissioner Dorosin referred to Commissioner Price's concerns and said he would <br /> 7 concede his seat to either Chair McKee or Commissioner Price, in order to achieve greater <br /> 8 geographical diversity. <br /> 9 Commissioner Price accepted Commissioner Dorosin's position on the committee. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 A motion was made by Commissioner Rich, seconded by Commissioner Price to <br /> 12 appoint two at-large seats tonight, replace Commissioner Dorosin's seat with Commissioner <br /> 13 Price, and to re-advertise the other two at-large positions to be filled no later than June 21St <br /> 14 <br /> 15 VOTE: 6-0 (Commissioner Pelissier absent) <br /> 16 <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Orange County Resident Position 1: <br /> 19 <br /> 20 A motion was made by Commissioner Rich, seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to <br /> 21 appoint Elizabeth Welsby to position 1. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 VOTE: Ayes, 3 (Commissioner Rich, Commissioner Jacobs, Chair McKee); Nays, 3 <br /> 24 (Commissioner Burroughs, Commissioner Dorosin, Commissioner Price) <br /> 25 <br /> 26 A motion was made by Commissioner Dorosin, seconded by Commissioner Price to <br /> 27 appoint Jamezetta Bedford to position 1. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 VOTE: Ayes, 3 (Commissioner Dorosin, Commissioner Burroughs, Commissioner Price); Nays, <br /> 30 3 (Commissioner Rich, Commissioner Jacobs, Chair McKee) <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Orange County Resident Position 2: <br /> 33 <br /> 34 A motion was made by Commissioner Dorosin, seconded by Commissioner Price to <br /> 35 appoint Teresa Watson to position 2. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 A motion was made by Commissioner Burroughs, seconded by Chair McKee to appoint <br /> 38 Matt Hughes to position 2. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 Commissioner Burroughs said she received an email from Elizabeth Welsby, which <br /> 41 stated if the votes came down between Elizabeth Welsby and Jamezetta Bedford, Elizabeth <br /> 42 Welsby would prefer that Jamezetta Bedford be appointed. <br /> 43 Commissioner Jacobs suggested packaging the appointments for those that the Board <br /> 44 feel, according to their votes, are meritorious. He said perhaps three spots could be filled. <br /> 45 John Roberts said any motion at this time would overturn the Board's previous motion of <br /> 46 just filling two positions, but this would be acceptable as long as the motion's intent is clear. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 VOTE: (Teresa Watson) <br /> 49 Ayes, 3 (Commissioner Dorosin, Commissioner Rich, and Commissioner Price); Nays, 3 <br /> 50 (Commissioner Burroughs, Commissioner Jacobs, Chair McKee) <br />
