18 <br />C. Questions <br />All questions regarding the RFQ must be received by the Planning <br />Department no later than noon on Monday, May 7, 2007. Questions must <br />be addressed to Tom Altieri, AICP, Comprehensive Planning Supervisor <br />via a-mail, at taltieri~co.oranpe.nc.us or telephone, at 919-245-2579. <br />11. Background <br />Orange County is seeking a professional consultant to "synthesize" the <br />existing county reports and studies that have been completed by various <br />county departments, advisory boards, and in some cases consultants; to <br />identify any missing components typically included in a Comprehensive Plan; <br />and repackage into a Draft Comprehensive Plan (See Section I11, Scope of <br />Services for additional detail). This process will be an update to an existing <br />Plan that was completed in 1981 with a revised format. <br />The overall Comprehensive Plan Update process is currently underway and is <br />being completed in two phases. Phase I, which primarily involves <br />development of Goals and a County Profile (Data) Element, is being <br />completed by County staff and advisory boards. Phase II, which primarily <br />involves the synthesis of existing reports and studies into seven (7) additional <br />Elements (Economic Development, Housing, Land Use, Natural and Cultural <br />Systems, Recreation and Parks, Services and Community. Facilities, and <br />Transportation), may be completed by a consultant in partnership with County <br />staff and advisory boards.
